Eternal Beauty: Principles and Disputations

20-27 June 2023 | The Angelicum, Rome, Italy

Questions about beauty abound. What is beauty? Is beauty a transcendental property of being qua being? Or is it rather a property of a property of being? To continue this perennial discussion, our seminar will dive into the writings of Saint Thomas Aquinas in conversation with modern thinkers under the guidance of Thomistic metaphysicians and other philosophers of beauty. Alongside our seminars, we will experience the beauty of the Eternal City with a seasoned tour guide and art historian, Elizabeth Lev. Our seminar will be hosted at the Medieval Dominican University in Rome, the Angelicum. Participants will be provided with accommodations and meals. Travel stipends are available on a need basis.
