Although the virtues are implicit in Catholic Social Teaching, they are too often overlooked in application. In Catholic Social Teaching in Practice, Dr. Yuengert draws on the neo-Aristotelian virtues tradition to bring the virtue of practical wisdom into an explicit and wide-ranging engagement with the Church’s social doctrine.

Andrew M. YuengertBlanche E. Seaver Chair of Social Science, Pepperdine UniversityAndrew M. Yuengert is Professor of Economics in Seaver College at Pepperdine University. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University. Previously, he has been the William E. Simon Visiting Fellow in Religion and Public Life at Princeton University, assistant professor of economics at Bates College, and research economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Andrew V. AbelaDean of the Busch School of Business, The Catholic University of AmericaAndrew Abela is the founding dean of the Busch School of Business and Ordinary Professor of Marketing at The Catholic University of America, in Washington, D.C. His research on the integrity of the marketing process, including marketing ethics, Catholic Social Doctrine, and internal communication, has been published in several academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Business Ethics, and the Journal of Markets & Morality, and in two books. He is the co-editor of A Catechism for Business, from Catholic University Press, and winner of the 2009 Novak Award, a $10,000 prize given by the Acton Institute for “significant contributions to the study of the relationship between religion and economic liberty.”
Dr. Abela also provides consulting and training in internal communications to Fortune 100 corporations. Prior to his academic career, he spent several years in industry as brand manager at Procter & Gamble, management consultant with McKinsey & Company, and Managing Director of the Marketing Leadership Council of the Corporate Executive Board. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, and a Ph.D. in Marketing and Ethics from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Kathleen, have six children, two of whom (so far) have graduated from Catholic U.

Father Gregory Pine, O.P.Instructor of Dogmatic and Moral Theology, Dominican House of StudiesFr. Gregory Pine, O.P., is an Instructor of Dogmatic and Moral Theology at the Dominican House of Studies and an Assistant Director of the Thomistic Institute. He is also a doctoral candidate in dogmatic theology at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). Born and raised near Philadelphia, PA, he attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville and entered the Order of Preachers upon graduating. He was ordained a priest in 2016 and holds an STL from the Dominican House of Studies. He has published articles in Angelicum, Nova et Vetera (English Edition), and The Thomist. He is the co-author of Credo: An RCIA Program (TAN Books) and Marian Consecration with Aquinas (TAN Books) as well as the author of Prudence: Choose Confidently, Live Boldly (Our Sunday Visitor). His writing also appears in Ascension’s Catholic Classics series, in Aleteia, and in Magnificat. He is a regular contributor to the podcasts Pints with Aquinas, Catholic Classics, The Thomistic Institute, and Godsplaining.

Joseph E. CapizziDean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies, The Catholic University of AmericaDr. Joseph E. Capizzi is Dean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America. He earned his bachelor’s degree in theology from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in theological studies at Emory University. He also earned a master’s degree and Ph.D. in moral theology from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Capizzi previously served as the inaugural director of the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) for seven years.
