Charles Carmen

Charles is a Ph.D. student in Church History, focusing on the theologian, Narsai, from the Eastern Syriac Tradition. While reading widely in philosophy, theology, and politics, he has a special love for languages, especially Latin, Greek, and Syriac. He has taught languages and other subjects in the Great Hearts network of charter schools, online, and as an adjunct at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. In many ways, he believes that Church History is the study of the languages of the tradition. He and his wife are constantly discussing classical education or hosting gatherings; their three children are likely wandering outside or reading Tintin inside. He writes occasionally for The American Conservative.
