Reinhard Hütter, Dr. theol., Dr. theol. habil. in Theology, is Emeritus Professor of Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology in the School of Theology and Religious Studies and Visiting Professor of Catholic Theology at Duke University Divinity School. Much of Prof. Hütter’s research and writing in recent years has focused on theological anthropology — the human being created in the image of God — and on the closely related topics of nature and grace, divine and human freedom, faith and reason, theology, and metaphysics. In addition, he has developed a keen interest in the thought of John Henry Newman and in the question of the development of doctrine. Under Pope Francis he has been appointed to the 2021-2026 Quinquennium of the International Theological Commission.
