Matthew Advent, a native of Greenville, SC, is a Ph.D. candidate in philosophy at the Catholic University of America. He has a B.A. in philosophy from Benedictine College, an M.A. in philosophy from Florida State University, and is a current Adam Smith fellow at the Mercatus Institute. His research interests focus on nature and metaphysics in the Aristotelian tradition (particularly Aristotelian biology), philosophical anthropology, the history of philosophy, and economic theory.
