Join the IHE and the School of Philosophy for a lecture by Antón Barba-Kay, Robert Aird Chair of Humanities at Deep Springs College and author of A Web of Our Own Making: The Nature of Digital Formation (Cambridge University Press, 2023).
Dr. Barba-Kay will discuss why we ascribe intelligence and personality in AI, why we should not do so, and why we cannot help but do so. The lecture will address the theme of digital formation, addressing Chat GPT and other kinds of “creative” AI. What counts as intelligence? Why do we wish to count it in very narrow ways?
This event is free and open to the public. A reception with refreshments will follow.
