From Christian Eschatology to Political Ethics

Join the IHE and the Project on Constitutional Originalism and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition for our third Annual Lecture on Catholic Political Thought. Émilie Tardivel-Schick, Professor of Philosophy at the Institut Catholique de Paris, will deliver this year’s lecture: “Hope and Salvation: From Christian Eschatology to Political Ethics.”

    Émilie Tardivel is a professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at the Institut Catholique de Paris. She holds a chair on the common good in partnership with ESSEC Business School. Her research covers three main areas: moral and political philosophy, phenomenology, and economic and social ethics.

    Laureate of the Académie française for her book on Patočka, “La liberté au principe” (Vrin, 2011), Professor Tardivel has written a book with Jean-Luc Marion, “Fenomenologia del dono” (Morcelliana, 2018), and two essays entitled “Tout pouvoir vient de Dieu. Un paradoxe chrétien” (Ad Solem, 2015) and “Moral et droit” (Boleine, 2023). She is also deputy editor-in-chief of the French-language committee of the international Catholic review “Communio.”
