Patricia Andrasik is an associate professor at the Catholic University of America, an author, and a licensed architect in Washington, D.C. She was a Fulbright Student Scholar at the Technical University of Slovakia and earned her M.Arch at the University of Oklahoma. She then taught as a Visiting Professor in Beirut prior to returning to the U.S. to practice architecture.
Informing building design through performance metrics, and using performance metrics to evaluate building operations and maintenance bookend her internationally-recognized teaching and scholarly research recognized in such venues as the Journal of the National Institute of Building Sciences (JNIBS), the New Buildings Institute (NBI), National Forum, and others. A course she recently developed entitled ‘Diocesan Assessment and Benchmarking’ teaches students about energy ethics, enacting the Laudato Si’ Action Plan as a basis to identify pathways to net zero energy usage and benchmarking within various U.S. Catholic Dioceses. Her books include LEED Lab; A Model for Sustainable Design Education (Routledge 2021) and the co-authored Heating Cooling Lighting: Sustainable Design Strategies Towards Net Zero Design, 5th ed. (Wiley 2022). She is currently completing her newest publication Plumbing, Electricity and Acoustics: Sustainable Design Strategies Towards Net Zero Design, 2nd ed. (Wiley 2025) and most recently contributed a chapter titled, “Towards ecological and human flourishing with technology in the built environment” in Green Discipleship: Catholic Theological Ethics and the Environment, 2nd ed. by Tobias L. Winright (Anselm Academic 2025).
